KOTA BHARU : ~ There Is No Such Thing As Bad Publicity ~

Perhaps, there is an element of truth from this famous quote by Brendan Behan :

" There is no such thing as bad publicity except your own obituary "

After those " ultimate backwater " and " Talibanistic " portrayals of Kelantan
in every local mass media and on the internet forum, blog imaginable,
then those " Kelantan Dalam Gerhana " episodes on TV,
followed by those " Kepialu " havoc or even the " Bird Flu " scare

( before they also got one themselves in Gombak ironically caused by an infected Indonesian fowl ) ,
outsiders and foreigners are still coming to Kelantan
day by day, in droves !

Surely, it is a very normal thing for me
as a proud Kelantanese,
to peacefully live amidst the popular stereotypes and bad publicity
( since we are aware that most are obviously baseless or over exaggerated )
However,
for the visitors to come flowing into Kelantan
despite all those "bad publicities" shrouding Kelantan,
is remarkable and awe inspiring.

Now,
to those Non-Kelantanese out there,
to those who are looking forward to visit Kelantan for the first time
or eager for a next visit,
please tell me
do you have at least one very good reason to come to this reputedly
most notorious corner of Malaysia ?

( Sorry, I am just too curious. You are always welcome to Kelantan tho ! )

Tour buses from outside Kelantan, packing the Sultan Ismail Petra Square ( aka the Istana Balai Besar Square ).
The area saw Kota Bharu started as Kelantan administrative and economic center just over 150 years ago.
Now a favorite spot among tour bus operators to park their vehicles, the square often got congested mainly on school holidays.

The Laman Siti Khadijah,
a walkway with open air cafes, stretching between the Siti Khadijah Central Market and The Buluh Kubu Bazaar.
Mostly quiet on normal days,
weekends and school holidays saw the often elusive gems and traditional medicine peddlers of Kota Bharu, flocking the scene.

Psst, I say :

" There is no such thing as bad publicity,
when the bad publicity is not bad afterall .....
"
