* Gerai Nasi Sumatra, Restoran Mui Fong, Simpang Empat Wakaf Siku, Kota Bharu. Love their less-spicy, sweet and crunchy Sambal Ikan Bilis. The shop's trademark, like any traditional Nasi Sumatra operator will do, is to pack the take-away rice dish with a nicely inserted iron nail through the top of the wrapping paper

NASI SUMATRA , the famous Nasi Padang as known in Kelantan.

In fact,
the first man who introduced the Sumatera Barat rice-serving concept had indeed came all the way from Padang, Sumatera who eventually settled down in Kota Bharu and pioneered the business.
there are numbers of Nasi Sumatra stall operating in Kota Bharu alone,
with the famous ones like Hoover Restaurant ( Jalan Dato' Pati ) and Mui Fong Restaurant ( Wakaf Siku ) doing business from inside Chinese coffee shop ( Kopitiam ), serving the Sumatran concept of Nasi Padang but obviously smeared with authentic local delicacies which turned it into a unique Kelantanese version of Nasi Padang instead.

Yes, the mildly spicy, sweet and sour Kelantanese dishes for the toppings. From the usually heard " Kari Ikan " to the unique to Kelantan " Ikan / Ayam Percik ", " Daging Kerutup ", to the rare treat " Telur Penyu " ( !? ) and even " Gulai Otak Lembu " ( !!?? ).

So, for those who still haven't, you need to give this a try !
