Banjir pullok doh wehh ~ !

These photos were taken today at Tambatan D'Raja ( literraly : Royal Jetty ), a favorite riverside spot in Kota Bharu to enjoy the sceneries of the mighty Kelantan river, at approximately 1730 hours.

An officemate of mine who happened to be in Kota Bharu at high noon today,
reported that the water was only a feet away from the jetty floor level.
Now, as you can see from the photos below, the water level is obviously on the rise !
Another officemate of mine whose kampung is somewhere in Kuala Nal ( in Jajahan Kuala Krai in the Kelantan interior ) told me that the road connecting to his kampung is currently under water.

Therefore, by judging from those descriptions and from my very own eyes,
I believe that if the water level were to increase steadily at its current pace, the whole town of Kota Bharu would certainly be flooded within just 24 hours or so..
(btw, this is in fact an "annual occurance", thus should be no bad feeling about it ! Hey, just look at these people, aren't they enjoying themselves ? Plus, makeshift hawkers are already flocking the area, selling kachang butir and keropok alike to the curious locals... huh, those business minded Kelantanese, they always seem to know when and where.. emm )

Okay everyone ( err.. those in Kota Bharu lah ), hope you enjoy this coming Flood Fiesta ! .. and dun forget ur perahu for Venice-styled cruising along Kota Bharu's "canal"s.. ( err.. jetski anyone? like last year huh? ) ...woohooo...

Believe it or not, the northern part of Kelantan ( yes, that includes Kota Bharu ) was made up gradually over hundreds of years, by alluvial deposits ( or silt ) left mostly by the annual floodings.
The product of this natural activity is the Kelantan Delta, a vast stretch of land with no hilly terrains. Which explains why there are almost no hills in this heavily populated part of Kelantan.
By the way,
my current metabolism rate is dropping due to the gloomy conditions in this tropical equivalent of gloomy, I think I should go into hibernation for some time ~ and perhaps I will do away with the updates along the way.. ahhh tengok lah kalau rajin... zzz..
