When Everyone Gets Their Share ~

Ada Apa Dengan Disember ?

it was Kelantan and Terengganu in December 2004 ( 8th ~ 12th Dec ).

it was Kedah and Perlis in December 2005 ( 17th Dec ~ ? ).

Now ( at the very moment ),
it is Johor, Pahang, Melaka and Negeri Sembilan !

While the latter two are the least common ( the most recent is said to be the rarest though, reported to be a centennial frequency ), we all should acknowledge that when it happens, it happens ...

No matter how " developed " your place is.

I guess, it's a small small World indeed !

( My deepest sympathy goes to all people affected by the current and past floods )

The Holy Quran, Surah Ar-Ruum ( 30 ): 41:

ظَهَرَ الْفَسَادُ فِي الْبَرِّ وَالْبَحْرِ بِمَا كَسَبَتْ أَيْدِي النَّاسِ لِيُذِيقَهُم بَعْضَ الَّذِي عَمِلُوا لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْجِعُونَ

" Corruption has appeared on land and sea because of what the hands of men have done. (These happen) so Allah may make them taste a part of the result of their bad deeds and so that they may return (to the truth by repenting to Allah, and begging His Pardon) "

The Holy Quran, Surah Al-Anfaal ( 8 ): 25:

وَاتَّقُوا فِتْنَةً لَا تُصِيبَنَّ الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا مِنْكُمْ خَاصَّةً وَاعْلَمُوا أَنَّ اللَّهَ شَدِيدُ الْعِقَابِ

“And guard yourselves against a temptation to evil (that will lead to calamity) which will afflict not only the wrongdoers among you alone (but which will fall on all of you in general). And know that Allah is most severe in punishment. ”

No mala fide, just plain and honest trivia(s) :

* The flood in Kelantan and Terengganu is so common that it is deemed seasonal and a must-expect during every year end.

Locals learned to cope, co-exist and adapt with the annual event (some households even prepared boats under their stilt supported, elevated houses), and know exactly when and how to evacuate themselves and belongings ( cars ! ) to safety.

While the flood would still affect their livelihoods in a way or another, many regard it as an " Annual Water Fiesta " especially in Kota Bharu, Kelantan.

* A prominent figure from a state up north along with his fellow counterparts,
during the Pengkalan Pasir ( Pasir Mas, Kelantan ) 2005 By-Election Campaign, is reported to say things like,
" Kelantan, due to bad governance, is lacking in good drainage and irrigation system thus the state would get flooded easily each rainy season " and " in Pasir Mas, a little rain is all enough to give you a fish pond under your house ".

Days after the reported statement, his whole state went under water ( while Kelantan was spared ).

* The Malaysian Meteorological Department warned the East Coast states ( Pahang, Kelantan and Terengganu, mainly the latter two ) that heavy rain with high probability to create troubling floods is coming their way.

The prediction was right though, but it fell ( perhaps still falling ) on the "wrong" place - the Southern Malaysian state of Johor and neighbouring states, creating unexpected disastrous floods.

At the moment, Kelantan and Terengganu and most parts of Pahang is (still) spared.

* A friend's wedding reception in Kota Tinggi, Johor, which was scheduled on the 24th Dec, had to be canceled due to the unexpected flood and for that, I had to abort my Johor ( and Singapore ! ) trip and get my tickets refund.

Now that what I called a sad experience ( no, not the refund part but the reception call-off thing ! ).
Now who says that I am not affected by the flood ?
